We are an association that is currently in dispute with the local Blackpool Council regarding the building of a large council project next to a large residential area. This is a case of a council project approved by council planners, rushed through to meet contract deadlines which were signed before planning approval had been given.
There must be other projects rubber stamped by councils all around the country affecting thousands of people who feel they have no say.
The Council is the democratic body governing over the electorate.

At what point does the elected body no longer represent the people who voted, and it goes to a tangent to the wishes of the people?
Starr Gate residents association is making a stand against this planning project and the way councils treat local residents affected by their decisions. We are looking for people to become friends of Starr-Gate.
The depot work starts on the 7th September 2009 this is a two year project and the tram lines to Starr gate will be shut for 24 months.
Blackpool is a great place but the people that govern must do so with in the rules like the rest of us.
